The new Faculty of Economics building at Ostrava’s VSB Technical University is open

On Monday 16 September, the faculty will launch the new academic year at its state-of-the-art new home. The faculty was formerly located in the city centre, but it has now moved to the university’s Poruba campus where it will be better integrated with other faculties and institutes.

• Construction lasted 25 months
• Lecture hall with 135 seats
• 40 teaching rooms with modern facilities
• 9 consultation rooms
• 2 teaching rooms with special equipment
• Study room, relaxation areas, outdoor atrium
• Café and snack bar
• Underground parking garage with 174 spaces and cycle parking
• 148 offices for staff
• 409 solar panels on the roof, producing 150 kW
• Rainwater recycling for flushing and irrigation
• Waste heat Reutilization

With 3,000 students (10% of them from abroad), the Faculty of economics offers a wide range of accredited degree programmes and modern premises providing excellent facilities for teaching and research. It is the university’s largest faculty.
